The Portieux crystal works has been in existence since 1705. It was the privilege of Mr. François Magnien to create it after the agreement of Duke Leopold of Lorraine. It quickly became a reference in the region for the quality of its lenses. In 1872, the crystal factory received a new boost thanks to its merger with the Vallerysthal crystal factory.
