THE LANCOIR SAWMILL
The Lançoir sawmill in the heart of the Vosges mountains, symbolizing a bygone era in Ban-sur-Meurthe-Clefcy.
Located in the heart of the Vosges massif, in the Straiture parade, the Scierie du Lançoir is unique. It is the last witness to a rural industrial past, a great symbol of a past era in the department. Its first construction was between 1611 and 1625. For centuries now, wood from Vosges forests has been sawn with torrent water. This former hydraulic sawmill is classified as a historic monument. During his visit, you will discover the hard life of the nineteenth century sawmills, the nineteenth-century sawmill workers, and you will learn more about the various tricks of Upper Iron, a rustic but surprisingly efficient machine. In the summer, the exceptional setting of the sawmill hosts animations (concerts, exhibitions, slide shows, theater, etc.).
