Guided tour of the Simserhof in Siersthal, one of the most important artillery works on the Maginot Line.

A two-hour visit to gain a better understanding of the Simserhof and honor the courage of all those involved. The fort, built between 1929 and 1938, was home to 876 crewmen who bravely defended the Maginot Line, a testament to an era and to the colossal efforts of hundreds of workers. Explore the barracks and its living quarters: bedrooms, foyer, kitchens, infirmary, power station, workshops and ammunition stores. A visit through vast galleries forming a veritable underground city 25 meters below ground.

Sehr eindrucksvoll, auch noch nach so vielen Jahren. Die Infotafeln geben sehr viele nützliche Informationen. Muss man sich einmal angesehen haben. Mitten im Wald gelegen, mit sehr großem Parkplatz.

Wir haben leider nicht beachtet, dass es deutsche Führungen nur zu bestimmten Tagen gibt. Damit wir nicht umsonst da waren, haben wir dann eine französische Führung mitgemacht ohne französisch zu sprechen. Der Tour Guide hat uns als einzige Deutsche natürlich ordentlich auf die Schippe genommen, aber auch einiges für uns nochmal gesondert in ein zwei Sätzen in Deutsch erklärt. Extrem sympathisch, auch der Humor! Der Vorfilm lief entsprechend auch auf französisch. Hier wurde uns sogar angeboten, den Film für uns auf deutsch erneut abzuspielen und auf uns zu warten. Was wir dankend ablehnten, weil wir die Gruppe nicht aufhalten wollten.

Insgesamt ein Erlebnis für alle, die an Geschichte interessiert sind. Aber ich empfehle, die Tage für die Führungen auf der Homepage zu beachten.
