Owned by the Bishops of Metz in the Middle Ages, then by the Dukes of Lorraine, modernised over the centuries, in particular by the Dubach family, owner for 6 generations, and still in operation, it is the largest mill in the Moselle department. A large paddlewheel, installed in 1992 in the forebay, mixes the water from the Saar in the forebay.
