A few flights from Thionville, Château de la Grange is one of the most beautiful buildings in Lorraine in the 18th century. This classic building, built by Robert de Cotte in 1714, was built on the ruins of a feudal fortress. Acquired in 1750 by the Marquis de Fouque, it still belongs to the family's descendants. His classical style is of a rare elegance. There is magnificent period seigneurial furniture (Louis XV and Louis XVI) and quite exceptional works of art: paintings, some inspired by the Fables de La Fontaine and others are family portraits, tapestries from Flanders, and ceramics from the India Company. In addition, the walk in the park is very pleasant: the "Jardin des Prairiales", a plant work by Frank Neau created as part of the cross-border network "Jardins sans limites", owes its name to the large bands of meadows planted with flowers from all over the world. The landscape architect has created a contemporary garden while preserving the classic-rockery spirit of the one that existed in the 18th century. The garden was awarded the "Remarkable Garden" label in December 2013.
