Roman aqueduct of 12.7 km, classified as a historical monument, built to supply the baths and fountains of Divodorum
Come and explore the remains of this listed Roman aqueduct! Built in the early 2nd century, it supplied the thermal baths and fountains of Divodorum, the ancient name of Metz. Over 22 km long, the aqueduct carried water from the "Bouillon de Gorze" spring to Metz. It included 12.7 km of underground passage, a 1.125 km arcade bridge between Ars-sur-Moselle and Jouy-aux-Arches, and a further 8 km of underground passage. Today, 7 arches remain on the Ars-sur-Moselle side and 16 on the Jouy-aux-Arches side.
