Come and discover a little-known period in history, thanks to an aesthetic and educational museography and numerous French and German military collections. Labelled a "Musée de France", this history museum is the only one in Europe today devoted entirely to the 1870 war and the Annexation of "Alsace-Moselle" (1871-1918). Comprising 600 objects, the permanent exhibition features French and German military collections, as well as paintings, sculptures, press clippings, audiovisual documents, everyday objects and objects that belonged to historical figures. Fragments of the famous panorama of Rezonville painted by Édouard Detaille and Alphonse de Neuville in 1883 are also on display in a special room. The layout is chronological and thematic. The conflict theme includes historical painting, as well as information on caring for the wounded and prisoners of war. It also features media dedicated to the international press, caricature and photography, as well as testimonials from combatants, archives and a large number of audiovisual documents. Opposite the museum, the Halle du Souvenir is the largest monument dedicated to the 1870 war.

Open from mid-February to mid-December: Tuesday to Sunday from 10 am to 1 pm and from 2 pm to 6 pm. Closed on Mondays and May 1st. Free of charge until 16 years old, and every 1st Sunday of the month for all, except events. Adult : 7 €. Reduced : 5 €. Store. Bookshop. Animations.
