What a beautiful story the Amnéville aquarium has been! It all began when Eric Isler decided at the age of 20 to present fish from other parts of the world to the public. Since 1989, this aquarium located in Moselle attracts many visitors who come to enjoy its intimate but incredibly rich setting. For it is indeed to the meeting of 350 species of fishes and invertebrates distributed in tens and tens of aquariums that we leave. As you walk around, you can observe the species that inhabit the various aquatic areas of the planet, from the rivers of our regions to the Great Barrier Reef in Australia, via the Indian Ocean, the Amazon basin, the Caribbean, the Hawaiian Islands, the great African lakes and the Red Sea. The Amnéville Aquarium is also a place to listen, smell, learn, relax and have fun. An ideal place for a fun and enriching family outing

An incredibly rich fauna

TheAmnéville aquarium offers a thrilling journey from the river to the ocean through its many aquariums organised into several themed areas. The submarine takes us to the heart of twenty thousand leagues under the sea and offers the opportunity to contemplate tropical fish, sharks and corals, while Amazonia reveals an impressive collection of piranhas. The tropical greenhouse houses 10 aquariums with fish found on the Asian continent and in Central America. Along the way, you can enjoy watching the jellyfish that seem to dance in front of the lights, and the touch tank offers the incredible experience of petting stingrays. To be interested in aquatic fauna is also to become familiar with those that inhabit our rivers, and the Amnéville aquarium is committed to revealing many freshwater species. In the African room, the decor attracts the eye, before it turns to the fish that inhabit the great lakes of the continent.

In this world tour of the lakes, rivers and oceans of the blue planet, we have the chance to admire species such as nurse sharks, stingrays, black tips, piranhas, seahorses, stonefish and pineapple fish, siltfish and other garden eels. Admire their shapes and colours and see the richness of the aquatic world.

Other aquarium experiences

In addition to the time spent looking at the fish and other marine species that inhabit the waters of the planet, the Amnéville aquarium also offers other areas dedicated to strolling and multiple experiences.

You can visit Shark Point to learn about sharks, understand them better and realise how much they are an integral part of the biodiversity that must be preserved. Young and old alike also appreciate the various sensory areas with four trails (Barefoot Trail, Auditory Trail, Scent Trail, Touch Trail) where the senses are awakened to better understand the elements that surround us.

At another time, it is the Zen garden which, in its Japanese-inspired decor, invites us to take a drink from the vending machine and then admire the koi carp and their colours. It is even possible to feed some species with pellets.

Finally, the Amnéville aquarium also aims to be a fun place. And families and groups of friends enjoy taking part in the game which consists of looking for clues to find the code that opens the treasure chest. The children will also leave with a gift! And don't forget the virtual space where you can experience the adventure of augmented reality with a helmet, a version of the aquatic world.
