For 40 years, Amnéville-les-Thermes has decided to write its destiny without taking into account what was expected of it. Under the impetus of charismatic figures such as Dr. Jean Kiffer, Amnéville-les-Thermes was able to reconvert the economy of its territory even before the idea of industrial reconversion became predominant. Today, the Amnéville-les-Thermes thermal and tourist centre employs 1,600 people on a daily basis. With a world-renowned zoo, the longest indoor ski run in Europe, one of the largest casinos in France, a nationwide thermal centre and more than 30 activities, 3 million visitors arrive each year.

Amnéville, wellness and spa version

Amnéville is the most recent of Lorraine's five spa towns. Indeed, its source was only discovered at the very beginning of the 20th century, and it was only half a century later that it began to be exploited. The ferruginous and highly mineralized water source (salt, calcium, magnesium) of the Saint-Eloy spring is captured at a depth of 900 m and gushes red at 41°C. It has been disseminating its benefits to the few thousand people who take the waters every year since 1986. Known for its analgesic and anti-inflammatory benefits, it offers 2 therapeutic orientations: rheumatology and the after-effects of osteo-articular trauma, as well as respiratory diseases. Approved since 1986, the Saint-Eloy Spa offers 2 types of stays: traditional 18-day thermal cures and healthy wellness stays adapted to your desires from 3 days. The warm welcome of our staff, specialized in hydrothermal techniques, makes it a reference establishment and guarantees the effectiveness of your stay in Amnéville-les-Thermes.

With the creation of the tourist site, each year, new cultural or leisure attractions are added to the already extensive offer of this tourist centre. And this, to the delight of both visitors and visitors passing through. The Amnéville-les-Thermes leisure area is now one of the largest in Lorraine

Thermapolis is the second establishment created in the thermal centre, ten years after the Saint-Eloy Thermal Centre. A real playful and family balneotherapy centre, Thermapolis offers to forget the stress of daily life, to combine a healthy lifestyle and well-being, while enjoying the benefits of a naturally relaxing thermal water at 35°C. In a bucolic setting particularly conducive to relaxation, many activities, sometimes original, are offered: indoor and outdoor pools, whirlpools, spas, slow rivers, massage jets, waterfalls, cryotherapy, but also a fitness area with saunas, oriental hammams, hot marbles, rest room...

Finally, Villa Pompei is the latest addition to the thermal centre's establishments. Inspired by ancient Rome and entirely dedicated to your healing, this refined building is located in the heart of the original forest. Villa Pompeii offers the benefits of thermal water at 35°C thanks to more than 400 m2 of pools, enhanced by nozzles at the cutting edge of relaxation, covering as many areas as your body requires, Jacuzzis and hammams, saunas, hot marbles, cervical showers, tropical showers, whirlpools... Without leaving the water, you can also enjoy the gardens and outdoor baths. Personalized treatments performed in chromotherapy and music therapy booths are also on the menu.

Leisure in a mess

In addition to cures, there is no shortage of leisure activities. Seven Casino is one of the largest gambling halls in France. A place worthy of Las Vegas with 325 slot machines and 12 gaming tables. And it is also a place of entertainment. As for skiers and snowboarders, let's head for Snowhall, the only indoor ski area in France. It offers 4 areas of snow covered with real powder maintained at a temperature of -2 °C to -3 °C, with slopes of 20 to 25 % and a snowpark that is constantly evolving. A toboggan run and a beginner's run are also available. One of the longest covered slopes in the world (620 x 35 m) therefore allows all fans to enjoy winter sports in all seasons. Those who prefer can go to the ice rink, where DJ parties are held every Friday and Saturday evening. Alternatively, you can also go bowling at the Atomic Bowl, talk in the Villa Form fitness centre or work on your putt on the golf course designed by Jean-Manuel Rossi. An 18-hole par 71 of 5,978 metres which extends into the heart of a 70 hectare greenery setting. With its generous greens, its fairways lined with hornbeams, century-old oaks and its 7 lakes, the Amnéville-les-Thermes golf course is considered one of the most beautiful in eastern France, but also one of the most selective. Children will prefer the France Aventures multi-activity park. Located in the heart of the Spa, it is the largest in Lorraine and offers 12 acrobatic courses in the trees. Tyroleans, monkey bridges, Tarzan jumps, nets, ground games and attractions like the Maxi Bungee (16 m reverse bungee jump at 3G acceleration). Accessible from the age of 4, the park also offers routes up to 12 m high for adults. Children will also enjoy pony rides at the Indian Pawnee Ranch, pedal boat rides in Coulange Woods and of course it is with the family that we will visit the aquarium, for a trip to discover the local rivers up to the Australian Great Barrier Reef, passing through the Amazon Basin, the Red Sea, the Caribbean, the Hawaii Islands, the Indian Ocean and the Great African Lakes. The zoo is also a must, as it is one of the most beautiful in Europe. There are 2,000 animals from the 5 continents, belonging to 360 different species, living on 18 hectares in settings close to their original environment. The Bay of Polar Bears and Sea Lions, the African plain (elephants, giraffes, rhinos), a collection of the most prestigious wild animals, including the rare white lions, spectacular gorillas and baboons geladas, the largest volley in Europe... Shows and activities with penguins, wolves, polar bears, hippos, free-flying birds of prey, sea lions, parrots also punctuate the visit. Since 2015, the zoo has been offering Tigerworld, a grandiose animation during which a man evolves alone among 9 tigers, showing the complicity between the trainer and his beasts.

Essential visits

On the museum side, direction the museum of Jaumont's work. A golden sunstone, Jaumont stone is the one used to build the main buildings in Metz and Lorraine. She is also the star in this museum, where you can discover Antoine Dyduch's monumental sculptures, created in Jaumont stone and displayed in a unique 2,000 m2 space. More than an art museum, it is a philosophical residence: the stone setting welcomes conferences, debates and musical evenings in the evening. It is also possible to book guided tours by the artist himself. You can also visit the quarries of Malancourt-la-Montagne. Finally, we must not forget to take a look at the thousand-year-old crypt. The church of Malancourt is built on the ruins of a 14th century church and a crypt from the early Middle Ages. Merovingian sarcophagi and Gallo-Roman remains, Carolingian altar and columns, admirable statues of Saint Juvin and Christ in polychrome wood from the 15th century, statue of Saint Roch from the 17th century, republican virgin from the 15th century, magnificent 16th century altarpiece, priestly garments, Way of the Cross and pedestals painted on canvas around 1950 by Roger Lucien Dufour, stained glass windows by Joseph Janin from the Nancy school, are the little treasures that this church holds.
