This is the museum of the President of the Republic throughout the great war: located on the ground floor of the former summer residence of President Raymond Poincaré (1860-1934) in Sampigny, the departmental museum Raymond Poincaré recounts the route of this illustrious meusien, lawyer, academician, statesman and president of the Republic during the Great War. Elected President of the Republic on 17 January 1913, his mandate covered the entire Great War and his political career was deeply marked. Presidential gifts, photographs, personal objects, sound archives and audio-visual documents illustrate the life and career of Raymond Poincaré. The collection of newspapers, posters and postcards shows interest in caricature in the first half of the twentieth century. A major politician, Raymond Poincaré did not escape the charge. " This is where I spent the best of my life "said Raymond Poincaré in his memoirs. Overlooking the valley of the Meuse, the New Louis XIII house built by the architect Charles Charles-Désiré Bourgon is complemented by a Garden in terraces with Italian-style beds, buildings in the rock and essences of Nancy school. The Asian accents bench makes it possible to enjoy views of the village. Flower meadows, genuine reservoirs of biodiversity, are developing at the location of the former food garden. At the back of the Clos, visitors discover the orchard and apiary of Mr Poincaré. An interesting and fun point of view through caricatures already in the hands of our policies, over a period of history that is unavoidable for the Lorraine region. Free admission.
