Church built in the heart of Faux-la-Montagne, dedicated to Saint Stephen, the martyr of Christianity
Built in the heart of Faux-la-Montagne, next to the Place de la Fontaine, this church is dedicated to Saint Stephen, thefirst martyr of Christianity. Although the precise date of its construction is unknown, it is linked to the 12th and 13th centuries. Louis d'Aubusson, knight of Saint-Jean de Jérusalem, commander of Charrières et Gentioux, founded a vicarage with a chaplain to serve it in 1468. Following major restoration work carried out over the last ten years, the beautiful pink granite masonry of the building has undergone a real renaissance.
