ÉGLISE SAINT-PIERRE
Church nestled on a steep bank of the Creuse, composed of a pentagonal apse on the outside and semi-circular on the inside
Nestling on a steep bank of the Creuse, about ten minutes from Aubusson, this 12th century church once belonged to the powerful abbey of Chambon-sur-Voueyze. It is composed of a pentagonal apse on the outside and a semicircular apse on the inside. A larger nave, framed from the time of its construction, was built without character in modern times, with a bare façade with a curved door. Popular works of art from the 17th and 18th centuries can be seen there: Saint Roch and Saint Sebastian, a holy bishop blessing cattle. A square, shingled bell tower with an octagonal spire rises from the choir. Under the choir and the apse is a crypt of the same plan. In the past, it was accessed by a staircase located in the axis of the nave.
