Castle with vaulted rooms, chapel, ramparts with view on Collioure and the sea, organizes exhibitions and shows
Built by the Counts of Roussillon and the kings of Aragon in the 12th and 14th centuries, the castle was the court of the kings of Majorca during the brief episode of their reign. Thereafter, it was occupied by the Spanish until 1642, then fell into the hands of the French. Vauban then reinforces the citadel. Architecture lovers will appreciate the warhead vaulted rooms, the chapel, but also the impressive ramparts from which you can enjoy a superb view of the sea and the city. Exhibitions and shows animate the castle throughout the year.

Situé entre Mer et montagne, c'est un lieu incontournable.
Marcher autour des remparts de la forteresse nous permets de faire un bond dans le passé.
Pour ceux qui préfère l'architecture à l'histoire, vous n'allez pas être déçu !
Malheureusement étant venue le 1er mai, il n'y avait pas de visite ce jour à l'intérieur du Château Royal.
Mais je reviendrais avec plaisir !
Petit bémol, les parkings sont payants et il faut se garer très loin car le centre ville est piéton. Cela a ses avantages et inconvénients...
Se promener dans les ruelles est également à faire !
La vue sur la ville est splendide !
Un lieu idéal pour tous les passionnés d'histoire et d'architecture... ou curieux tout simplement !
