This castle, among the most beautiful works of the religion, has an indisputable patrimonial value
This castle is one of the most beautiful works in the region. With its French garden (designed by Le Nôtre) and its aqueduct, it has an indisputable heritage value. The face of this monument has changed throughout its existence. Indeed, the construction of the first castle of this domain dates from the 11th century. The second Duke of Castries bought it and christened it in the 19th century. It remained in the family until 1985 and the death of the last duke. At his death, the estate was bequeathed to the Académie Française before becoming a property of the Region.

Nous avons pu visiter l'intérieur du château de Castries à l'occasion des Journées du Patrimoine. Visite impossible en dehors de cet évènement.
Malgré sa vétusté qu'on ne peut s'empêcher de constater, le château a gardé des traces de la splendeur de ses multiples (grandes) salles.
Des travaux de rénovation sont apparemment prévus. Espérons que cela permettra aux badauds et habitants de la région d'en profiter !
Sinon l'extérieur du château est magnifique ! Ses jardins qui auraient été conçus par Le Nôtre, sont somptueux !
Un bien beau détour historique à faire !
