The only tower still standing among the 80 towers of the ancient city, and imposing itself as the highest viewpoint of the city.

The Magne Tower is the only one of the 80 towers of the ancient city walls still standing. Perched on Mount Cavalier, it dominates the plain and is the highest point in the city. 32.50 meters high, it was a strategic point to watch over the Via Domitia, the Alpilles, the Mont Ventoux, and the Vistre plain. After having climbed the hundred or so steps that lead to the top, you will discover from the terrace a striking panorama of Nîmes and its surroundings. At the reception, an exhibition presents the history of the tower.

A faire pour la vue
Situé dans un joli parc, après avoir bien grimpé la colline vous arriverez en bas de la tour.Il faut payer 3€50 pour monter les 140 marches en colimaçon.En haut , une vue sur Nimes. Ayant un pass, nous l'avons fait mais dans le parc, il y a un belvédère qui donne une aussi jolie vue gratuitement et sans se fatiguer...

Point de vue tout simplement éblouissant ! Faisant partie du système de défense romain, cette tour permet une observation du panorama. Elle est bien conservée mais seulement 15 personnes peuvent monter à la fois. Les escaliers sont raides. A partie du haut, la vue sur la ville est magnifique comme sur la campagne environnante

La Tour Magne fait elle-aussi partie des incontournables de Nîmes. La tour en soi est déjà un but de visite intéressant. Il faut grimper au sommet (pas d’ascenseur) pour admirer la vue.
Elle est par ailleurs située sur un promontoire au milieu et au-dessus de très beaux jardins qu’il faut prendre le temps de découvrir.

Avec le billet combiné pour la visite des 3 monuments de Nîmes, nous en avons profité pour monter tout en haut de la Tour Magne, beaucoup de marches pour accéder à un joli point de vue sur toute la ville.
