This tower, once a relay station for the Chappe optical telegraph, has been brought back to life thanks to a restoration and an aerial transmission mechanism
A former 13th century watchtower, the Royal Tower culminates at the top of the village and was used as a relay for the Chappe optical telegraph which it housed from 1832 to 1852. After the restoration of the tower, the Association du Patrimoine Gallarguois (Gallarguese Heritage Association) coordinated, with the support of the municipality, the HISTELPOST association and the FNARH, the realisation of an aerial transmission mechanism that was fully compliant with the original model, complete and functional.
