The tower offers a sublime panorama of the city and the Rhone plain and still imposes its defensive character today.

At the top of the hill of Bellegarde, the ruins of the castle reveal a sublime panorama of the city and the plain of the Rhône, offering on a clear day a view as far as the massif of the Sainte Baume in the Var. The last vestige of the 12th century castle, this former feudal keep still imposes its defensive character today. The statue of the Virgin and Child, Notre-Dame de Bellegarde, was installed at the top of the tower in 1875. A green theatre hosts open-air shows, including the Humour Festival in June.
