HOTEL DE FRANCE * *
Hotel-restaurant with spacious rooms offering a completely revamped menu.
The establishment, which is run by Philippe Dunod, proudly stands in the centre of Chaurien for over a century! Completely renovated, it offers spacious and functional rooms, with a pleasant decoration. The parking, reserved for hotel guests, is quite helpful. In the restaurant, the Chef will delight the most demanding taste buds with a completely revised menu, the cassoulet is obviously the star. On the website, it is possible to book your room online and benefit some discounts. Do not leave without having read the guestbook which dates from the 1930s when a certain Sacha Guitry wrote: "Castelnaudary's Cassoulet was so good, that when I ate it I thought I was eating myself! "
This establishment is also referenced as :
Menu €27 for two people:
Two slices of current foie gras semblance to leave a can (?), a dish being setup and the other careless; a small square verrine furnished with jam, unpredictable, without small spoon adapted to the service;
- A cassoulet peppered at the point not to feel the flavour of beans, and very little the very good any filling however; much juice in the cassole;
- A gourmet "tea dessert" tastes and textures a dismaying banality, except for the strawberry ice and too grasse biscuits...
Fortunately, a friend served up with this bad souvenir by simmering us a cassoulet worthy of the name, and almost making us digest these €60 lost.
