Tithe barn with typical stone façade, used as a covered market for Champagne fairs, tithe warehouse

Not far from the Place du Châtel, this ^13th-century stone-fronted barn served as a covered market during the Champagne fairs. It comprised an upper floor used as a store, a lower room with a pointed vault and carved capitals, and several living rooms. In the ^17th century, it was used as a tithe warehouse. In addition to its architecture, the house features mannequins representing merchants and trades of the Middle Ages: moneychanger, public letter-writer, potter, stonecutter, parchment-maker and more.

Opening time and information on TITHE BARN

March 26 to August 28: daily from 10am to 6pm. August 29 to November 6: weekends, public holidays and long weekends from 10am to 6pm - weekdays from 2pm to 6pm. January 2 to March 25 and November 7 to December 31: weekends, public holidays and every day during school vacations (all zones), from 2pm to 5pm. December 10 and 11: Christmas in Provins: 11am to 5pm. Admission: adults €4.30, children €2.80 (aged 4 to 12). Length of visit: approx. 35 min - last admission 15 min before monument closes Pass Provins adult 15 €, child (4 to 12 years) 10 €. Credit card accepted. Audio tour available.

Belle muséographie. La visite est intéressante et les foires du moyen-âge sont bien expliquées.
Dommage que les audioguides soient un peu poussifs.

Une 10 de tableaux avec mannequins. Une animation audio guide qui laisse à désirer le système est à revoir. J'ai vu mieux.

Englisch: Never ever in my life made an audioguide so much différence. It really brings the exposits to life. The descriptions on the tags are meager.

Français : jamais de ma vie la recommandation pour l'audioguide était si juste. Cela donne vie aux personnages. Les descriptions sur les panneaux sont très maigres.
