Tithe barn with typical stone façade, used as a covered market for Champagne fairs, tithe warehouse
Not far from the Place du Châtel, this 13th-century stone-fronted barn served as a covered market during the Champagne fairs. It comprised an upper floor used as a store, a lower room with a pointed vault and carved capitals, and several living rooms. In the 17th century, it was used as a tithe warehouse. In addition to its architecture, the house features mannequins representing merchants and trades of the Middle Ages: moneychanger, public letter-writer, potter, stonecutter, parchment-maker and more.

Middle age scenes I love to read about, very well reproduced in this XII century building!

Englisch: Never ever in my life made an audioguide so much différence. It really brings the exposits to life. The descriptions on the tags are meager.
