With or against? Friend or foe? Concrete or imaginary use? Regardless of their relationships, animals and gendarmes have been linked for centuries. It is this wealth of links that the exhibition will focus on unveiling on the 200m2 of temporary space, from February 1 to September 16, 2019, at the Musée de la gendarmerie nationale de Melun, a unique place 45 km from Paris. The dog, the horse, yes! But not only.... Animal species and relations with gendarmes are equally diverse. When animals pose a threat to human populations, gendarmes are responsible for protecting them. They therefore take action against dangerous animals for the benefit of the population. But gendarmes also intervene when animals themselves are in danger, mistreated or subjected to illegal practices. In this context, the gendarmes act for the animals and their protection.

A playful and immersive tour will offer visitors the opportunity to discover these little-known and unknown relationships through photos, anecdotes and objects from the museum's collections but also on loan from renowned partners. A good opportunity to visit this unique museum, inaugurated in 2015 by Bernard Cazeneuve!
