A museum that brilliantly promotes the arts and civilizations of the four continents, at the crossroads of various influences, in Paris.

Located on the upper banks of the Seine, between the Eiffel Tower and the esplanade des Invalides, what hasn't been said or written about the Musée des Arts premiers initiated by President Jacques Chirac (1932-2019), a great lover of these works? Forget your preconceptions and come and visit! The building, designed by Jean Nouvel, houses a series of galleries showcasing extra-European arts and civilizations from the Neolithic period (some 10,000 years ago) to the 20th century, at the crossroads of various influences. The immense Plateau des Collections, which literally catches your eye as soon as you enter, is made up of permanent exhibitions and no fewer than 3,500 works, for which the museography has been deliberately chosen to invite you to wander through distinct geographical zones (Oceania, Asia, Africa, North Africa and the Middle East, and the Americas) while still having all the information you need at your fingertips. Temporary exhibitions are regularly presented here: "Shamanic Visions", dedicated to the arts of Ayahuasca in the Peruvian Amazon, and another called "Overflowing Anthropology", until mid-2024, for example. In this place of scientific and artistic dialogue, conferences, concerts and workshops are organized, and a popular university offers meetings every Wednesday evening in the museum's theater. The whole experience takes visitors on a true voyage of discovery, providing them with an intense and unique experience.

Interesting museum with aboriginal history and artifacts from Africa, the Americas and the Amazon. Located near Tour Effel. When it’s hot, this is where you can cool yourself. Cafe in the same site as this museum commands good view of Tour Effel.
