For many years now, over half a million people have marched in the streets and squares every year during the Marche des Fiertés: lesbians, gays, bi and trans people, as well as straight people who campaign for respect for differences, all in a festive atmosphere. This unique event mobilizes large numbers of people, not to defend rights or challenge policies, but first and foremost to propose a vision of society based on equality and respect.
