Brasserie in Paris preparing various dishes with duck, beef or chicken.

An institution in Saint-Germain-des-Prés, the Allard brasserie was founded in 1932 by Marthe Allard. Since then, the original decor has been preserved, with the zinc counter and the period tiling. Here, we delight the palates of gourmets and tourists passing through, who wish to take over the place for a lunch or a dinner. You will find the dishes that have made Allard's reputation, such as navarin of lamb, Challans duck with olives, Fernande Allard's frog legs, coq au vin or chicken with morels..

We had a wonderful time at Allards. The staff is on point and the food was excellent - especially for a lunch price of 34€ (three courses). Our wine was pretty expensive for its taste, but whatever. It still was an all in all satisfying experience. I guess we’ll be checking out the other Ducasse bistros in the future.

Deludente. Personale sgarbato e goffo. Cibo mediocre: canard in parte decisamente cruda e in parte stracotta.

It was hard to figure how many stars because the food isn’t terrible, the atmosphere is okay, and the service is nice, but over the years, there has been a decline in taste and at the same time an outrageous increase in price. The prices are just not justifiable. The cannette aux olives alone is now €100 - which is €10 de plus que la carte en photo. It’s a few days after our meal there, and I’m just trying to wrap my head around that price. Last night at a Michelin restaurant in Lyon, we had a mind-blowingly delicious three-course meal with a bottle of magnificent wine, apéros to start, and digestifs for less than the cost of the cannette at Allard. (It was €99.60). I can’t see returning to Allard, which makes me sad because we’ve been going for years. This time was just too much.
