GIRARDON STREET

Like all the streets of Montmartre, it was first a trail in the th century. His present name was given to him in 1867 in honour of François Girardon (1628-1715), a sculptor famous at the Time of Louis XIV. Originally, it connects Lepic Street to Junot Avenue, which makes a loop after crossing it. This street is worth visiting because it is one of the high places in Montmartre. Starting from rue Lepic, at the corner of this street, you can find the Moulin de la Galette, which is no longer present. Then one crosses the avenue Junot where the artist Emblem Poulbot lived (1879-1946), inventor of the famous «poulbots» at No. 13, Tristan Tzara (1896-1963), the initiator of the Dada movement at No. 15, as well as the singer Claude Nougaro and actor Jean Marsh. At the corner Girardon-avenue Junot is the Impasse impasse where the painter, engraver and Gen Paul Gen Paul and the writer Jules Romain immortalisa this avenue in his novels. Below is the narrow and charming Fog Alley, whose name echoes Fog Street, which is named after Girardon Street in the th century. The origin of these mists was perhaps the vapours rising from the sources of Montmartre in contact with fresh air of heights. In this driveway, the poet Gérard de Nerval was born from 1828 to 1833 and the painter Auguste Renoir from 1890 to 1894. In the extension of the gangway, the rue de l'Water rises in front of its name to the old water at the bottom of Girardon street. At the entrance to the street is the place Dalida with the bust of the singer, abondamment abondamment by her admirers.
