Less crowded than its counterparts in Montparnasse or Père Lachaise, this cemetery makes for a pleasant stroll. Opened in the early 19th century on the site of a former plaster quarry, this cemetery covers almost 11 hectares. In the shade of chestnut, maple, lime, and cedar trees lie Stendhal, Théophile Gautier, Alfred de Vigny, Berlioz, Offenbach, Sacha Guitry, Michel Berger and France Gall, Dalida, François Truffaut, Henri-Georges Clouzot...

Ein sehr interessanter Friedhof mit vielen Persönlichkeiten wie Heinrich Heine. Die Grabstätten sind Zeitzeugen vergangener Zeiten.

Beautiful cemetry, very peaceful place. I initially came here to visit Dalida’s resting place, but ended up spending a couple hours walking around and looking at other artistic tombs here. Interesting visit and a good getaway from Paris’ traffic and noise into a quiet big area.

It has feral cats, beautiful tombs and is generally well kept without it looking sterile. A magnificent cemetery for a magnificent city.
Entrance is below the bridge.
