Médecins du Monde has been assisting the most vulnerable people in France and abroad for several years. Founded by Bernard Kouchner in 1980, the association aims to intervene in emergency situations, but also to allow sustainable development in health. His primary mission is to care. The association intervenes in areas of natural disaster and is working to remedy conditions of malnutrition and famine.
What are they proposing? Médecins du Monde offers volunteer missions ranging from 2 months to 1 year, in 51 European countries : aid for victims of natural disasters, famines, armed conflicts and political violence. Care for refugees and minority peoples, street children, excluded persons and occurred.
Where ? Afghanistan, Benin, Bolivia, Congo, Madagascar, Mali, Angola, Argentina, Balkans, Burma, Brazil, Bulgaria, China, Egypt, Pakistan, Ethiopia, Georgia, Lebanon, Mexico, Moldova, Liberia, Guinea, Kosovo, Cuba, Nepal, Cambodia, Palestine, Haiti, Ecuador, Indonesia…
Profile and conditions. Volunteers are mainly part of the medical sector, but, like all major associations, Médecins du Monde also needs logistics and baccalaureate + 5 graduate graduates, specialized in human rights, refugee rights or international law. Physicians must have made a thesis or equivalent, the specialists must justify 4 validated boarding semesters. Physicians in the World also need nurses and midwives as well as diplômés clinical psychologists; all must have at least two years of professional experience.
In all cases, it is necessary to speak fluent English, Spanish or Portuguese.
