MME SHAWN THAI CUISINE
Restaurant located in a lively street of the 17th offering a cuisine mixing tradition and creation.
Mme Shawn has 7 addresses in Paris, including this one in a lively street in the 17th arrondissement where restaurants have been springing up like mushrooms in recent years. But who is Mme Shawn? A mysterious Thai lady, in reality a made-up character, who also has a restaurant in Bangkok (which does exist) and whose cuisine mixes tradition and creation. All the products are directly imported from Thailand and in the plates it's colorful and fragrant as you wish. We liked the Pad thai kung sod, rice noodles sautéed in a wok with vegetables and shrimps, crushed peanuts, but the Mapraw neua, a thinly sliced beef with green curry cooked in fresh coconut milk is not bad either. Vegetarians will not be outdone with 7 dishes to choose from including the Keng kiewwan jé, a green curry of Thai vegetables, with coconut cream, fried and smoked tofu. For dessert, we were less won over, the lukewarm Thai flan leaving us just as... lukewarm. But that's the only drawback, because it's a real trip to Thailand that we made at Mrs Shawn's, if only through the retro decoration which reminds us of an old Asia, a bit like Marguerite Duras's, but also thanks to the staff, because one of the waiters is a real lady boy! We are almost in Bangkok and considering that the trip costs only about fifteen euros, we validate!
