PARIS AQUARIUM
A contemporary and colourful temple of aquatic life, with a shark tunnel, petting pool and two movie theatres.
With its 43 basins and large aquariums containing 4 million litres of water, its three movie theatres showing must-see documentaries, as well as entertainment films, ecological animations and shows, Cinéaqua is a comprehensive venue for discovering the marine world. Cinéaqua offers a tour of the French coastline, including the Seine, the English Channel, the Atlantic, the Mediterranean, the Caledonian lagoon, the reefs of French Polynesia, the Indo-Pacific basin and much more. More than ten thousand fish and invertebrates live here. A 33-metre-long tunnel takes you right up close to the sharks. 25 sharks of four different species - blacktip sharks, nurse sharks, grey sharks and a zebra shark - evolve in an immense underwater cathedral. The "petting" tank lets you touch and feed Koi carp and sturgeon. Children can also take part in a variety of activities on the underwater world, including a meeting with a diver and "Sharks, endangered species", where they can ask all their questions about these fascinating species. Other activities include night-time discoveries, a brunch and a grandparents' day. The Medusarium at the Aquarium de Paris presents the different ocean ecosystems that are home to these species, and raises awareness of the impact of global warming on the oceans. 5 large, magical basins house 5 species of jellyfish. Interactive terminals provide innovative educational content.
