The Georges-Pompidou European Hospital is the most recent hospital in the AP-HP (Assistance Publique - Hôpitaux de Paris). Opened in 2000, it was born from the closure of three hospitals (Laennec, Boucicaut and Broussais). The establishment meets the health needs of nearly 600,000 inhabitants of southwest Paris, offering all types of care: emergencies, consultations, hospitalisation (day, short or long-term), follow-up and rehabilitation care, and home hospitalisation. It houses a post-operative geriatric unit and an acute geriatric ward.
