THE SCANDOLA NATURE RESERVE
Reserve created in 1975 under the impulse of the Regional Park, recognized as one of the Mediterranean areas to be protected in priority
To visit the Scandola nature reserve is to discover one of the most beautiful natural sites in Corsica, listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Ecological treasure of about 2 000 ha, divided between the peninsula of Capo Rosso and Galeria, that is 80 km, it was created in 1975 under the impulse of the Regional Natural Park being then the first French reserve both terrestrial and marine. Recognized at the European level as one of the Mediterranean areas to be protected as a priority, it is home to a particularly rich and rare fauna: the last ospreys, also the peregrine falcon, the blue blackbird, the pale swift, and at sea, 450 species of algae, fish that have become rare in the Mediterranean, and magnificent coral shoals. The boat trip offers unique landscapes, such as these volcanic organs, some of which, by a miracle of natural reversal, have horizontal striations. The Genoese tower, built on the top of the Gargalo rock, is the only one in all Corsica to have preserved its cannon, pointed out to the open sea. Maritime access is strictly regulated to preserve this exceptional natural area for future generations. Bivouac prohibited, scuba diving prohibited, anchorage only allowed during the day and prohibited day and night in the integral part. Offering spectacular scenery, the boat trip in the reserve is considered one of the must-do's of a trip to Corsica.

A faire, à refaire : que du plaisir et on s'en met plein les yeux !
Un décor naturel exceptionnel, composé de roche magmatique de couleur pourpre; l excursion inclut souvent la visite de la ville de Girolata.
