Erstein is also the history of the sugar brand of the same name! The adventure began over 100 years ago. Founded in 1893, it is one of the jewels in the crown of the local food industry. The site handles the production of sugar beet growers throughout Alsace. Harvesting takes place between mid-September and mid-November, before the period of extreme cold. Production is around 100,000 tonnes. During your visit, you will be taken in hand by the company's retired employees, who will guide you along the production line.
