MAISON-DIEU DE MORMANT
With its impressive architecture, this abbey, founded in 1120, recounts an adventurous history and preserves its remains.
The Maison-Dieu de Mormant welcomed sick pilgrims on their way to Santiago de Compostela as early as the 12th century. The site, now laid out as an educational trail, allows you to see the 11th-century hostelry-refectory, the 12th-century Maison-Dieu and the remains of the ramparts. You can visit the cells, the hospital and the bays carved with scallop shells. Rehabilitation work is currently underway to transform the buildings into a hospitality site for hikers on the Via Francigena.
