Things to see and do Chaumont

This forest, which has become known as the Revolution, is a place of escape easily accessible from Chaumont. Several hiking and mountain biking trails allow you to turn around or at least discover part of it. The shortest trail is 4 km, while the longest runs 13 km. The departure can be made from three main places: the Lily area, from where there is a botanical trail, the Clear oaks area and its health course, and the area of the Fountain Sainte-Bookseller, which also includes a 9 km mountain bike circuit.

It was built by François Nicolas Lancret between 1787 and 1790 in the Louis XVI style with a roof at the Mansart. You will notice on the triangular pediment the figuration of the city's weapons. The hall offers beautiful proportions, you will notice a magnificent staircase with a double revolution. Very close to the city centre, you can discover the beautiful city halls of the Baltard art. Long hidden to the public, they have been restored, we can visit the interior, especially on the market days, on Wednesdays and Saturdays.

Préfecture de la Haute-Marne, the city of Chaumont is surrounded by forests and parks which make it an ideal place to walk. And why not start with a discovery of the center? A tour plan is available at the tourist office to guide you through the city in 17 steps. The walk begins in the square Philippe-Lebon and takes you to the point of view on the bastion, giving you an overview of the medieval heritage of the city. Then you will get down to the dungeon and Saint John Basilica before you reach the square at Le Havre. From here a detour to the peace fountain and City hall will bring you back to your place of departure.
