SAINTE-MADELEINE CHURCH
Church home to masterpieces of the Trojan school, including Sainte Marthe, attributed to the master of Chaource
The church of Sainte-Madeleine is one of Troyes' heritage gems. Built between the 12th and 16th centuries, it harmoniously blends the Romanesque and Flamboyant Gothic styles. It is most famous for its splendid, finely carved stone rood screen, a masterpiece unique in France, built in the early 16th century. Remarkable stained glass windows, dating from the Middle Ages to the Renaissance, bathe the church in colorful light and finely depict biblical scenes. Self-guided tours are available with audio guides.
