Old fortress and its 33 m high keep with 5 farms in Mondoubleau, protected by 3 surrounding walls and 14 towers.

The fortress dates back to the^5th century, with the construction of a wooden tower. Although visitors are peaceful today, this was not always the case, and its defenders had to repel three attacks by Norman warriors during the ^9th century, prompting Hugues Doubleau to erect the stone castle around the year 1000. Protected by 3 perimeter walls and 14 towers, the fortress has withstood all assaults except marl quarrying, which undermined the base of the 33-metre keep, causing it to partially collapse.
