Closed on January 1, May 1 and 8, July 14, November 1 and 11 and December 25. Open Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday from 10am to 6pm; Thursday from 10am to 8pm; Sunday from 1pm to 6pm. One of the oldest and richest museums in France, the Musée des Beaux-Arts d'Orléans offers a captivating insight into European art from the 15th to the 20th century. Founded in 1797, it has survived the centuries by preserving and enriching its collections, bearing witness to artistic and cultural evolution through the ages. The museum houses a remarkable collection of Italian, Flemish, Dutch, German and Spanish paintings, with masterpieces such as Diego Velázquez's Saint Thoma. Visitors can also admire sculptures, drawings, prints and an exceptional cabinet of pastels, the second largest in France after the Louvre, with works by Maurice Quentin de La Tour, Jean-Baptiste Perronneau and Jean-Baptiste Chardin. To deepen your discovery, guided tours allow you to explore the history of the works on display. The museum also organizes temporary exhibitions and presentations of drawings and engravings, regularly renewing the visitor experience. Accessible to people with reduced mobility, the site offers a boutique/bookshop where original souvenirs can be found, as well as strollers and baby carriers to facilitate family visits.
