Orléans' Sainte-Croix cathedral offers a walk to the top of the towers to admire the panoramic view over the Loire and the city.
First Romanesque, then Gothic and dedicated to the Holy Cross, rebuilt between 1599 and 1829, this cathedral contains remains dating back to the 4th century. One of its chapels pays tribute to Joan of Arc, and its great organ comes from the abbey of Saint-Benoît-sur-Loire. Its five bells, located in the north tower, weigh between 640 and 6,000 kilos! A "walk" up the towers allows you to admire the town and the panorama, with the Loire passing nearby. And don't forget to admire its facade, so well portrayed by painter Maurice Utrillo (1883-1955).
