This splendid 16th century castle presents the history of hygiene and scents from the 16th century to today.
In this village located 15 km southwest of Pithiviers, the splendid 16th century castle, with its round towers and pointed roofs, is one of the most visited in the department. Built by Lancelot du Lac (first of the name, named after the legendary knight of the Round Table), companion of Louis XII and governor of Orleans, the castle became a Protestant stronghold through the family's alliance with Louise de Coligny, hence the transformation of the chapel into a temple. The last owners donated the castle to the City of Paris, which bequeathed it to the Loiret department in 1987. Ancestral techniques were used for the complete restoration of the building. Now called "the castle of perfumes", it presents the history of hygiene and scents from the 16th century to today. On the scent panels, simply press a button and bring your nose close to discover unusual scents and olfactory tastes of each era, including the very famous Eau de la Reine de Hongrie. The charming Renaissance garden offers a pleasant place of relaxation and discovery for children and adults alike, thanks to its beautiful flower beds, furniture and labyrinth. With the Geomotifs application, it is now possible to discover the small hidden details of the castle. For each shape found, explanations are given on the meaning of the motif. During the school vacations, creative workshops and game books for children. Don't miss "The Secret Word" of the summer, very popular with families.

Closed in January. February, April, October, November and December: open every day except Tuesday (1:30-5:30 pm). Open on weekends (10am-12pm and 1:30pm-5:30pm): every day except Tuesday, from 10am to 6pm July-August: every day from 10am to 6pm. Free until 6 years old. Free visit, 5,10 €. Complete rates on line. Vacation voucher. Tourism & Handicap label. In accordance with legal obligations, the Château de Chamerolles provides its visitors with a public accessibility register. Store. Animations. Owner's Message
In 1672, Chamerolles belonged to Jacques Saumery, Colbert's brother-in-law. He was governor of the royal castle of Chambord and of the county of Blois, marshal of the king's armies and grand master of the Waters and Forests of Ile-de-France. Then in 1774, it passed into the hands of the Lambert family and in 1924 into those of Gaston Jessé-Curély. Occupied, ransacked and stripped during the Second World War, it was put up for sale in 1970.
In 1976, the city of Paris found itself in charge of Chamerolles. Abandoned, the castle was falling into ruins. In 1987, this marvel of 16th century architecture became part of the Loiret departmental heritage. The General Council then undertook an ambitious restoration program of the castle. The attractive appearance that the Renaissance had given it has been restored for the most part. Today, Chamerolles has become the castle of perfumes.

From February 1st to March 31st and from October 1st to December 31st : from 10am to 12pm and from 2pm to 5pm, closed on Tuesday
April 1 to June 30 and September 1 to 30: 10 am to 6 pm, closed on Tuesdays
From July 1st to August 31st : from 10am to 6pm
The castle is closed on December 25th and in January.

Que du bonheur, idéal pour promener les enfants. À très bientôt !
2eme visite, toujours aussi magnifique, même si servi par une excellente météo. Rien à retrancher de mon premièr avis enthousiaste.
Acceptez-vous les suggestions, recommandations, observations ? Si oui, tournez de 90 ° (à gauche ou droite, peu importe) le damier dans les écuries : la case "en bas à droite " est blanche. Et là, elle est noire. Mais c'est vraiment pour chipoter, et j'espère que vous ne m'en voudrez pas. La photo est sans rapport, mais comme j'ai vu un alambic...
Que ce soit à l'extérieur, toute la qualité de la réalisation architecturale, ainsi que son parc.
Et l'intérieur ,toutes les salles aménagées avec soin et goût.
N'oubliez pas de voir, dans les combles, le musée des parfums.
Ainsi, dans le parc, restructuration de la Halle de Bellegarde,pour des événements temporaires.
