This castle is a magnificent architectural witness of a new art of living, combining prestige and security.
Rebuilt at the end of the 15th century, on a site fortified since the Frankish period, the castle of La Guerche is a magnificent architectural witness of a new way of life, combining prestige and security. Its two vaulted basement levels contain huge granaries, the seigniorial prison and the artillery rooms. By crossing the Creuse, by the bridge, you can enjoy the view of the castle and you can take the old Roman road that goes up the hillside, in the forest of Rond du Chêne. It is a must between Touraine and Poitou.

Visita inesperada pero magnífica !! Acabamos haciendo un tour personalizado con guía para nosotros solos por un precio más que razonable !! La chica se esforzó en todo momento en hablarnos para que entendamos. Hay una parte que no se puede visitar porque es de la familia actual, pero es muy interesante de ver. ☺️

Great little chateau on the Creuse river that's worth a visit if you're in the area. Guide is lovely and did the tour in French and English. Learned a lot about the history of the place, especially from the graffiti etched into the walls. The circular cannon room in the tower is worth the admission price alone. It's obviously someone's home but they are really welcoming. Also a good way of keeping cool in the hot weather.
