A symbol of Villedieu-sur-Indre's heritage, Saint-Sébastien church has been restored to its former glory thanks to an ambitious restoration project.
Villedieu-sur-Indre's Saint-Sébastien church, built around 940, has undergone several transformations, including an extension in 1823 and the addition of naves in 1874. It features a monumental painting from 1883 and a "French Republic" pediment, the result of a dispute between the parish priest and the town council in 1884. Classified as a Historic Monument in 1994, it was restored in 2016 under the direction of Mayor Bernard Gontier and architect Marc Cioffi. The renovation was completed on March 25, 2022, preserving this precious heritage for future generations.
