LE MANOIR DES FAUVES
Between wild animals and the remains of a castle, the Manoir des Fauves unveils the incredible legacy of a tamer with an extraordinary destiny.
Manoir des Fauves was the home of Sarah Caryth-Rancy (1897-1979), a daring artist who was in turn a dancer, snake charmer and lion tamer. From 1928 to 1941, she set up her famous "lion barn" here. Today, a museum traces her incredible career, from circus to the "Années Folles" and European tours. The manor house, a fortified dwelling whose origins date back to the 15th century, still retains its original features: dovecote, vaulted cellar, tower and ancient moat. A fascinating guided tour of history, nature and an extraordinary destiny, at the heart of the Château de Saint-Lactencin.
