GUILLAUME CASTLE
Medieval chateau surrounded by beautiful English parkland in a valley, restored in the century in the neo-Gothic style.
The château owes its name to William IX, father of Eleanor of Aquitaine, who built it at the end of the 12th century. Surrounded by a beautiful English-style park, this medieval monument takes refuge in the valley of a tiny river called the Allemette.
The keep was enlarged in the 14th century, but it was the exceptional Neo-Gothic restoration in the 19th century that gave it its present-day appearance. A discovery trail (1.7 km) has been laid out around the château. It is marked by explanatory panels.
