Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Issoudun, considered a place of pilgrimage where many pilgrims deposit an ex-voto.
Father Jules Chevalier is the founder of two religious congregations: the Missionaries of the Sacred Heart in 1854 and, a few years later, the Daughters of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart. Today, more than 5,000 religious men and women continue his work in the service of evangelization on all five continents. The basilica was built in 1859 as a rallying point for these missionaries. In this building, one can admire a wooden calvary carved by Philippe Chambault. It is a place of pilgrimage, many pilgrims have left an ex-voto there.
