CARNEVALE

Several towns in Friuli Venezia Giulia organize their own carnival. The two most famous are those of Sappada and Muggia. In Sappada, in the Carnic Alps, it is celebrated on the three Sundays before Lent. All the performances are accompanied by the "Rollate", the traditional mask of Sappada. As for the carnival of Muggia, it is a colorful event, with parades of floats and performances of carnival companies. It is accompanied by several traditional masks. The carnival of Muggia is twinned with that of Venice.
