CASTLE OF SAINT GERMAIN

Castle with beautiful view, an old medieval fortress in Saint-Germain.
Strategically located on a rocky promontory with a view of both the middle of the central valley (facing east-west) and the final part of the lower valley (facing southeast), the castle of Sain-Germain is an ancient medieval fortress with all the characteristic features of the valley's primitive castles. Fief of the lords of Montjovet (whose name comes from the Latin Mons Iovis), it passed to the Savoy around the year 1300 and then to the inevitable Challant. The structure is very picturesque seen from below, however it is not open to the public, only a path leads to the ruins closed by a fence.
