Crafts to discover Provence-Alpes-Côte D'Azur

A faience manufacturer for three generations, this factory has been labelled a living heritage company (EPV), a state label, for the excellence of French know-how. The visit of the workshops allows to follow the complete manufacturing cycle. The initial mixture is made from raw quarry clays. It is then presented in the form of a coloured earthenware paste. In the modelling workshop, the parts are moulded one by one. They are then unmoulded, dried and deburred. The baking, known as biscuit baking, is carried out in an oven at 1,020°C. At the exit of the oven, the earthenware biscuit is glazed. The decoration is entirely hand painted, piece by piece. The second firing, called enamel firing, at 980°C, develops the brightness of the enamel and colours.

Manufacture of small mobile languet using reeds from Cogolin, whose vibrations produce sound, and the musicians adapt their wind instruments. 90% of production goes abroad, at the request of the greatest musicians in the world.

Vallauris is a town renowned for its pottery and handmade ceramics. Among the local manufacturers is Céramiques Dominique N.B. Visitors can discover the earthenware cookie manufacturing process, from drying the dishes to the various stages of firing in the kilns. However, for those who can't make the trip, it's possible to order creations online and have them delivered. Céramiques Dominique N.B. ceramics are entirely hand-decorated, with oxides of different colors giving the pieces warm, brilliant hues.

This is an experimental breeding enough to make it worthwhile! The visit is possible and guided by this élevage farming, which is not intended to raise pets or competitions but to produce wool producers, in a balance and for an environmental purpose recognised by State bodies. Founded in 1984, there are currently more than 50 llamas who flow from happy days and maintain forest, garrigues and land fallow over 33 hectares. The guided tour will teach you much about llamas: its origins, morphology, behavior, use, reproduction… But it will also allow you to approach the animals and visit the weaving shop. A proper visit!

This visit allows the discovery of salt trades, the work of sauniers and the ancestral techniques of salt producers.
