COED Y BRENIN FOREST PARK
Read moreAn information centre has been set up in the heart of the forest, where you can organise your family trips, regardless of the age of your children. There is a short walk and then picnic while sitting on tables outside, or organising a mountain bike ride or hiking. The centre also houses a pleasant coffee, with a large, raised terrace overlooking the forest.
MAWDDACH TRAIL
Read moreThere are many walks from the village. One of the most popular is the 15 km Mawddach Trail. On foot or by bike, well signposted, it starts by crossing the Barmouth viaduct and follows the old railroad line before arriving in the center of Dolgellau. Along the way, it's pleasant to stop off at the George III pub in Penmaenpool, which overlooks the estuary. Alternatively, try the Panorama Walk. The trail starts at the end of Porkington Terrace, which has the advantage of leading to a beautiful viewpoint.
OFFA’S DYKE PATH
Read moreThe hiking trail is 285 km long. There are several ways to join Offa's Dyke. Our suggestion: cross the bridge, direction Tutshill (Gloucestershire) and go up the road. Just before the big bend, stop to enjoy the plunging view of Chepstow Castle and the river. Then, you will see on your left (in front of the entrance of a housing estate) a sign indicating Offa's Dyke. This trip is really rural, taking you through meadows with cows and sheep, make sure to close the gates tightly as you pass!
SUGAR LOAF MOUNTAIN
Read moreThe ascent of this 580-metre mountain makes it a very popular hike in the area and presents no particular difficulty. Allow about 4 or 5 hours of travel time depending on the walkers. You can easily do it as a family, with children as long as they are used to walking a minimum. If necessary, a map of the hike is sold to the tourist office. From its summit, you have beautiful views of Brecon Beacons Park and the Bristol Channel: an ideal place to rest and enjoy a picnic!
