Dear Wèpes, in Picard, it's the wasps. In other words, these festivals that honour the Picardy language are meant to be whirling and facetious! There are several editions per year, covering the entire territory, the cradle of the language. The one in Longueil-Annel, the Cité des Bateliers, near Compiègne, opens the season at the beginning of summer, then picard is celebrated on the coast, towards Le Crotoy, in July and August. Other weekends follow one another in the autumn, around Doullens, then in Beauvaisis. And, since Picardy is not just Picardy, it will soon be celebrated in the vicinity of Villeneuve-d'Ascq, in the North. On the menu of all these events are songs, storytelling, sketches, picard games and traditional restaurants. You who hear nothing at the picard, don't be afraid, you won't be lost. Because if the picard, "ch'est un rude wèpe", he is also open and generous!
