ARMENIAN PAPER
Read moreThe Armenian Paper production site has been located in Montrouge for more than 120 years. After a major year of closure, due to a fire at the beginning of 2017, the site resumed its activity in June 2018. But her visit remains a great moment: she lets you discover the manufacturing workshops and craft techniques that are still in use. It was during a trip to the Ottoman Empire in 1888 that Auguste Ponsot discovered in Armenia that the inhabitants perfumed their houses by burning benzoin, the resin of a tree. Back in France, he developed this famous Papier d'Arménie with the pharmacist Henri Rivier. The principle: blotting paper is soaked with a solution composed of benzoin, from the styrax benzoin tree, and various herbs. Then, it's up to you to enjoy this very special scent, recognizable among all, and which has many followers!
