Hiking Franche-Comté

The "Vineyards, Closed and Cadets" trail is a 10 km loop from Givry. It makes us discover the vineyard richness of the region. High in color, this walk through the vineyards is stained with red and gold as the seasons pass. You will find old houses, these dry stone shelters where the winemakers were housed, before discovering the black pine forest that will bring you back to Givry.

The 39 ^th edition of the Cormatinoise offers several circuits around the municipality of Cormantin in the discovery of the local historic heritage and the green landscapes of Burgundy. Among those walks, 7 km is accessible to all.

This route of almost 9 km highlights the work of the painter Emmanuel de La Villéon (1848-1944). Of Breton origin, he lived from 1900 to 1936 in a mansion in the hamlet of Salvard, in the commune of Bitry. A fervent admirer of Monet, he adopted most of the characteristics of Impressionism. Punctuated with panels containing reproductions of the bocage poyaudin and commentaries, this loop allows you to observe the places painted by the artist.

Michaël Parmentier is a nature and outdoor sports instructor who offers sporting activities during your stay in the Jura. Located on the first plateau, in the commune of Mirebel, you can join him in exploring the many hiking trails and sharing his knowledge of the area. He also offers electric bike rides, archery and paddles and canoes for hire on Lac de Chalain. Contact him for information and bookings to discover the Jura in a different way.

Creusot Cycling Sport regularly organises the hiking "Les Crêtes crêtes" from the Perrette coomb. The 16 th edition will take place on September 21, 2014 and will once again offer a walking tour and a mountain bike circuit accessible at all levels. They are segmented into sections of 7 km to 40 km, depending on the chosen level and discipline. If you own your own horse or donkey, a route is also set up for equestrian hiking!

On 15   km, this trip will bring you to discover the washing and ancient habitat of the commune, rich testimony of the past, as well as one of its finest particularities  : a multitude of varieties of orchids scattered here and there on the limestones that surround the village. Christophe Page, permanent nature guide, will take you to discover the Loire, on foot or by boat. Several hikes are proposed, around themes changing with the seasons. To discover the forests, lakes and rivers of the Pays Corbigeois, no less than twenty-two marked out loops open their courses to you, going from 5 to 25 kilometers. On foot of course, but also on horseback or mountain bike. Departing from Châtel-Censoir, this 10.5 km long marked circuit will lead you to discover this charming village and then, from woods to meadows, to the one of Chevroches. From there, a shortcut will take you to the Grotte des Fées (Fairy Cave), where you will try to discover the secret of this mysterious place: located in the Vaulabelle woods, the cave was explored in 1904 by the abbot Parat, who hinted that the fairies living there used the underground passages to reach the Réchimé fountain!

Located in the commune of La Celle-sur-Loire, there are two trails in Brocs: the trail of the Loire and Man and the trail of the Loire and its natural environment. From 1 to 2,3 km, these paths are not difficult and offer the possibility to discover the wild river, its fauna, its flora, and its relations with Man. Explanatory panels punctuate the paths. The site of the Brocs reveals natural environments with a strong patrimonial and touristic interest, whose safeguard and development are encouraged by a Natura 2000 contract.

Parc Evasion Chevigny takes the place of Acro'Mania. Little brother of the Parc Evasion of Curley near Gevrey-Chambertin, we can count on the creativity of Brice and Loïc to innovate on their new leisure site. All the activities are new, starting with the accrobranche in Accro-spider, that is to say that you evolve without harness, the space being secured by a net of 2 000 m². Archery, laser game, inflatable structures for adults, games for children and a restaurant, burger and refreshment area will complete this forest space near the city.

The Nuits des Forêts festival returns to the Parc National de Forêts every year in June, with a rich and varied program. The program includes nature outings, musical performances, craft events and nocturnal exhibitions, enabling you to familiarize yourself with the forest after dark. The festival is an opportunity for young and old alike to learn about the fragility of this natural environment, and to discover how it functions and its nocturnal particularities.

The Mer de pierres (Sea of Stones) at Collonge-en-Charollais is a geological curiosity well worth a stroll. Starting from the village center, you'll have to cover a 6 km round trip and climb 200 m to admire these chaotic rocky expanses lost in the middle of the forest, along the GR7. It's a pleasant walk, in the shade and with great views, in these woods where, in 1944, one of the many Resistance maquis was organized. To avoid the first part, drive to the end of rue de la Varenne, then follow the AMSV1 signs.

Nestled in the hills south of Buxy, Culles-les-Roches is a beautiful little village. Thanks to the vagaries of geology, it boasts a surprising diversity of landscapes and biotopes. This makes it an ideal setting for hikes, including the Géorama trail, which uses 7 panels to explain the local geology. Whether on foot (2h30) or by car (you'll have to walk a bit), it offers magnificent views, penetrates the heart of the village and passes by the rock-climbing site. A word of advice: for the more courageous, extend your walk as far as the Crainseny viaduct.

To get some height, head for the grottes d'Agneux, above the hamlet of the same name, where you'll need to leave your vehicle. Follow the GR as it climbs. At the milestone indicating the village behind you and Mont-Palais ahead, leave the GR and turn right. You'll come to the caves, which are closed but offer a superb panorama. Turn back or continue uphill, then turn left to return. Steep but shady path, 45 min round trip.

You will surely fall in love with one of these dogs in this breeding of Altdeutsche Schaferhunde (Old German Shepherd), and Czechoslovakian Wolfdog. Your hosts offer a half-day visit of the kennel and discuss the organization of the pack, how to approach the dogs to avoid bites and the good gestures to have. The visit is followed by a walk with the dogs, the cani-rando, which pull you with their harness to discover the Ballon des Vosges Natural Park. From 6 years old, these walks can be adapted to your rhythm. Count 1 hour to 2h30.

Along a small stretch of water bordered by forests, the small village of Saint-Sernin-du-Bois reveals its ancient stones, including Gallo-Roman remains, a ^14th-century keep and a magnificent granite dam built in the early ^20th century. This charming ensemble is the starting point for numerous hikes (11 signposted circuits ranging from 2 km to 31 km, starting from the dam). Among other things, you'll come across charming waterfalls, a peat bog and superb viewpoints.
